Occlusion — Cheap Shadows

Occlusion on materials in Unity is used to create a fake shadow. This is much more performance friendly then using additional light source. On mobile devices this matters more.

If we Ctrl + Click on the thumbnail left of Occlusion:

The occlusion map is a grayscale image with white meaning full directed lighting, black means no directed lighting.
